ATA NSW, the rt health fund and the Sydney Ports Corporation, along with TWU Super and Patrick Stevedores, will join together to celebrate TruckWeek 2012 with a free sausage sizzle and health checks for truck drivers at Port Botany from 7-8am on 20-24 August.

The celebrity sausage sizzlers will include Grant Gilfillan, CEO and Director and Sydney Ports, and ATA NSW Manager Jill Lewis, who will listen to what drivers have to say about the port facilities and other issues.

Trucking businesses should review their costs and freight rates ahead of the introduction of the carbon tax and the 2.4 cents per litre increase in their fuel tax on 1 July 2012, the Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association, Stuart St Clair, said today.

Although trucking businesses will not pay carbon tax on the fuel they use on public roads until 1 July 2014, they will still face increased costs from 1 July 2012 as their suppliers increase their prices.

The Australian Trucking Association has honoured Australia’s top truck driver and other leading industry figures in the 2012 National Trucking Industry Awards.

The awards were presented at the ATA Foundation Sponsors Gala Dinner at the Rosehill Gardens Event Centre in Parramatta on Friday.
