HVNL review: technology and data

The Heavy Vehicle National Law should include voluntary options to enable operators to move away from paper record keeping. Operators should be notified electronically about defect notices and have online access to safety-related driving infringements.

The ATA put forward these recommendations in its submission to the NTC on chapter 6 of the HVNL review RIS, which deals with technology and data.

The reforms would increase productivity, help trucking operators manage the safety of their vehicles and shorten delays in repairing vehicle defects.
