Side underrun protection devices reduce the chance of a cyclist or pedestrian falling under the wheels of a truck. Safer Freight Vehicles and vehicles accredited under the CLOCS-A silver standard must have side underrun protection complying to ADR106/00.
This Technical Advisory Procedure explains how to design and fit and side underrun protection devices to prime movers and rigid trucks, with diagrams covering special cases raised by operators.
The ATA published the third edition of this TAP in October 2024. It was developed by the ATA’s Industry Technical Council and peer reviewed by Callum Boyce, Bisitecniks.
