Registrations are now open for TMC Online, a free and interactive event that will deliver the latest technical and maintenance updates, insights and stories from trucking industry experts across Australia.
For many years, the Australian Trucking Association and PACCAR and its dealer network have collaborated to present the annual Technology and Maintenance Conference – bringing together trucking fleet, workshop, and maintenance professionals, as well as mechanics, engineers and business operators.
“We successfully delivered the first-ever TMC Online in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 restrictions, and we are excited to once again be able to deliver valuable, educational content to industry no matter where they are located around the country,” ATA CEO Andrew McKellar said.
To be held on 27 and 28 July, TMC Online will feature live and on-demand content that has been developed with input from the ATA’s Industry Technical Council and the wider trucking industry including:
- Electric trucks: the future of urban freight?
- Rigid drawbar converter dolly – concept proved
- Getting and keeping apprentices – understanding what support is available and how to gain and retain apprentices
- The ATA’s technical advisory procedure program, in a session hosted by Industry Technical Council Chair Kel Baxter.
“Our live electric trucks session will explore the whole of life benefits and costs of electric trucks, how to keep an electric fleet on the road, possible future models and how governments can remove barriers to their adoption,” Mr McKellar said.
“Meanwhile, the live rigid drawbar converter dolly session will give delegates an insight into the results of the ATA’s prototype rigid drawbar converter dolly trial, with early access to detailed engineering report on its performance.
“TMC Online will also welcome Industry Technical Council Chair Kel Baxter, Deputy Chair Dennis Roohan and working group chair Ian Thomson to discuss our technical advisory procedure development program. These procedures are created to meet the needs of industry and fill the gaps in vehicle standards,” he said.
Mr McKellar said TMC Online would explore how wider trucks could improve safety and productivity, the business savings from full expensing, and the potential changes to vehicle inspections, defects and duties.
“Delivering TMC Online will allow us to connect with a much larger and broader audience than ever before and will allow our delegates to view the content whenever suits them, regardless of the COVID situation,” Mr Smith said.
“TMC Online is free, and I invite all industry members to register and take part,” he said.
