Trucking industry honours technical experts

18 October 2017

The technical experts behind the Australian trucking industry were recognised for their hard work and professionalism at the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner in Melbourne this evening, 17 October.

The dinner was part of the 2017 Australian Trucking Association / Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association Technical and Maintenance Conference.

Mark Collins from Frasers Livestock Transport and Les Bruzsa from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator were announced winners in the prestigious 2017 award program, receiving accolades from their peers.

The 2017 Craig Roseneder Award recognises technical and maintenance excellence and celebrates the professionalism of men and women who work behind the scenes in the trucking industry’s workshops.

This year’s award went to fleet manager Mark Collins from Frasers Livestock Transport in Warwick, Queensland for his dedication to workshop and driver training, including TruckSafe inductions.

NHVR Chief Engineer Les Bruzsa was awarded the Castrol Vecton Industry Achievement Award for leading continuous improvement in heavy vehicle regulation and standards.

His accomplishments include computer simulation and evaluation of the dynamic performance of heavy vehicle configurations, investigations into stability, braking, safety and design of heavy vehicle combinations, accident analysis, reconstruction and investigation.

ATA Chair Geoff Crouch said it was a pleasure to recognise the people in the industry who have shown outstanding leadership and commitment to safety.

“Every year, these awards confirms the amazing calibre of the people who work behind the scenes to keep our trucks safe and on the road.

“Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thank you for the contribution you make to our industry every day,” Mr Crouch said.
