Summit will get to the CoR of supply chain safety

30 August 2018

More than 250 people from across the supply chain will come together at Melbourne Park next week to take part in Australia’s leading supply chain safety event, jointly hosted by the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) and the Australian Trucking Association (ATA).

The 2018 ALC & ATA Supply Chain Safety & Compliance Summit, being held on 5-6 September, comes at a critical time for Australia’s heavy vehicle industry – and for those who use their services in their day-to-day business activities.

On 1 October, changes to the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) provisions in the Heavy Vehicle National Law will come into effect.

It is imperative that those who operate, load, drive or send and receive goods using a heavy vehicle understand what these changes mean for their business – and proactively take all reasonable steps to ensure compliance.

The Summit will hear from leading political decision-makers, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minster for Transport, Infrastructure and Regional Development, Hon. Michael McCormack MP, and Victoria’s Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Hon. Luke Donnellan MP.

In addition, there will be keynote addresses from leading Australian and international experts in safety matters, panel discussions exploring the major issues that bear on supply chain safety, and interactive workshops that will help provide attendees with the practical advice they need to ensure compliance.

A key focus will be the industry-wide Master Code for heavy vehicle safety, which has been jointly developed by ALC and the ATA over the past year.

Attendees will have the chance to hear directly from those who have written the Master Code about how it can help them to meet their CoR obligations.

The Summit will be the last major industry event before the changes to CoR come into effect – and there is no better place to get the right advice on compliance from leading experts.

Anyone who is still unsure about the changes and how they apply to their business is strongly encouraged to register now so they don’t miss out on this major industry event.
