Fuel saving devices: real or magic?

04 October 2013

There are a wide variety of devices available on the web that claim to magically improve fuel economy, increase horsepower and drastically cut exhaust emissions from your fleet - all at the same time. However, installing these devices can have severe implications for your warranty and even your compliance with the Australian Design Rules.

At the 2013 PACCAR and Dealer TMC, Cummins South Pacific will explain what these aftermarket fuel saving devices are, how they work (or not) and what effect they have on engine durability.

Cummins Automotive Sales and Customer Support Manager, Col Baker, said it was essential that operators and workshop managers had all the facts when looking at fuel saving devices.

“It’s important for operators to understand the impact these devices may have on engine durability, warranty and emissions certification compliance,” Mr Baker said.

Delegates who participate in this workshop will receive a certificate of attendance signed by both Cummins South Pacific and the TMC committee.

TMC2013 will run from Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 October at the Automotive Centre of Excellence at the Kangan Institute in Docklands, Melbourne. With high attendance levels expected, the workshop will run each day of the event.

TMC2013 is Australia’s premier technical and maintenance event, with technical forums on key issues like truck electrical fault finding, parts purchasing and tyre selection and maintenance, as well as hands-on supplier-led product training workshops.

Attendees can also view the latest products from leading suppliers at the TMC Marketplace, as well as network with industry legends at the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner and the ALLRig Funhouse.
