Transport and infrastructure net zero consultation roadmap

01 August 2024

The Australian Government should support the increased use of high productivity vehicles as a key part of its Transport and Infrastructure Net Zero Consultation Roadmap, the ATA’s response to the roadmap says.

The submission argues that the Government should create a policy environment that facilitates maximum innovation in alternative fuels, because the evolution pathways for alternative fuel heavy vehicle technologies are unclear.

It makes 12 recommendations based on a four-pillar approach to addressing the targets set by the Government—

  • drop in fuels
  • removing the barriers to the use of low or zero carbon vehicles
  • incentivising the purchase of low or zero carbon vehicles, and
  • higher productivity vehicles.
