The National Transport Commission (NTC) should work on simplifying the heavy vehicle national law to improve safety and compliance, the ATA has said in its latest submission.

The submission is in response to the NTC’s Heavy Vehicle Compliance Review consulation draft.

The ATA also recommends that governments develop a nation-wide, publicly accessible database of coronial road safety recommendations, and the eventual establishment of a national ‘no blame’ investigation capacity for fatal truck crashes, similar to the current approach taken for aviation, marine and rail incidents.
