The Australian Government should incorporate strong data principles into the design of the National Freight Data Hub.
The ATA and NatRoad made the call in a joint submission in response to DITRDC’s National Freight Data Hub Options Paper.
The submission argues that the data principles incorporated into the hub should include:
- data provision by industry should be voluntary
- data should not be used for regulatory or enforcement purposes
- confidentiality of firm and individual data should be protected
- data should only be available in de-identified, aggregate form.
